A True Crime Primer
Crime Writers of Canada Workshop
Featuring Susan Goldenberg, Nate Hendley, and Lorna Poplak
Admission is Free
Public interest in true crime is insatiable, but how do you make nonfiction read like an exciting novel? Veteran true crime authors Susan Goldenberg, Lorna Poplak, and Nate Hendley will explain the attractions and challenges of writing about true crime. The threesome will discuss their own journey into the genre, with short readings from their work. They will outline the differences between writing true crime and fictional crime, and between writing about current and historical crime, as well as offer some true crime do’s and don’ts. The session will end with around 15 minutes of general discussion and questions from attendees.
